The course aims to introduce strategic planning through an active learning experience. Students will prepare and implement their own strategic plan through the simulation platform. Key concepts and methodologies include the generic strategy, strategic objectives and goals, customer service, operations, human resources, sales and marketing, and decisions to implement the strategy selected. Simulation decisions take students step-by-step through the process of developing an effective strategy. The course provides participants with a near real-life experience of running a firm in a specific industry, considering all aspects of running the firm and implementing a pre-determined strategy. Emphasis is on team participation, discussions, analysis, reflection and results presentations. The strategy simulation used in 2024 will focus on setting up and running an airline in the European market.

Námsmat
To pass, a student must receive a final grade of 5 (4.75) or higher for the course. All written components are to be handed in through Canvas. Deadline for reports is midnight on the due date. Further details on each assessment component are as follows. 1. Strategic Plan (25%); 2. Teamwork (15%); 3. Final report (50%); attendance and/or participation (10%).
