Climate change, income inequality and social instability are having profound effects on businesses world-wide. These factors, in addition to imperil competition and people´s vulnerabilities, often lead to extreme risk taking and even white-collar crimes. Now, more than ever, a new type of management thinking is required. Moral profit mirrors this new reality with an outside-in approach. Global challenges and morality are used as direct tools to transform daily management thinking and improve competitiveness. Moral profit combines methods of traditional management with non-financial value creation, social and moral goals. This approach rests on the premise that to maintain competitiveness companies can no longer look at shareholder value as their key purpose. The pioneering thinking behind moral profit is seeing moral, social and environmental challenges as opportunities for organizations. These challenges are used as catalysts for innovation, quality improvement, setting financial and non-financial goals, the development of organizational structure, attracting employees, nurturing corporate reputation, and facilitating effective crisis management.
Námsmarkmið

Kennsluaðferðir
COURSE OUTLINE The course is divided into three parts. In part one, we reflect on the idea behind moral profit, i.e. how it differs from traditional profit theory and leans towards non-financial value creation and long-term thinking. In part two we look at how to align social, environmental and financials goals, and, in that light, how to structure organizations that support such goals. In part three we look at how morality and social thinking strengthens long-term strategy and firm reputation and facilitates crisis management.
