Ferilskrá

Dr. Bjarni Már Magnússon er prófessor við lagadeild Háskólans í Reykjavík. Bjarni er menntaður við Háskóla Íslands, Kaupmannahafnarháskóla, Miami háskóla og Edinborgarháskóla. Hann kennir og stundar rannsóknir á sviði þjóðaréttar, einkum á sviði hafréttar. Hann fæst jafnframt við rannsóknir um kynjajafnrétti í íþróttum. Bjarni er höfundur bókarinnar The Continental Shelf beyond 200 Nautical Miles: Delineation, Delimitation and Dispute Settlement (Brill/Nijhoff 2015). Auk þess hefur Bjarni birt greinar í tímarit á borð við International and Comparative Law Quarterly, Indian Journal of International Law, International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law og Ocean Development and International Law.

 

Nikaragúa og Sómalía hafa vísað í skrif Bjarna í munnlegum málflutningi fyrir Alþjóðadómstólnum í Haag. Auk þess hefur verið vísað til skrifa hans í alþjóðlegum kennslu- og fræðiritum, sem og tímaritsgreinum, á sviði þjóðaréttar, einkum hafréttar. Á vorönn 2016 var Bjarni gestafræðimaður við lagadeild Duke háskóla sem Fulbright Arctic Initiative fræðimaður. Hann hefur haldið erindi í vísindaakademíu Bandaríkjanna auk þess sem grein eftir hann er ein af 20 greinum sem bókasafn Alþjóðadómstólsins mælir sérstaklega með á sviði hafréttar. Bjarni var í lagateymi Bangladesh í máli Bangladesh gegn Myanmar fyrir alþjóðlega hafréttardómnum um afmörkun hafsvæða ríkjanna. Á námstíma sínum í Edinborg var hann Chevening styrkþegi og Cobb-Family styrkþegi í Miami. Bjarni hefur sinnt ráðgjafarstörfum fyrir innlend og erlend stjórnvöld sem og alþjóðastofnanir.
