Course content, structure and pedagogical approach This course aims to provide participants with an overview of the key themes and considerations in the field of ESG and will provide the tools to analyse, apply and develop ESG metrics effectively. The course delves into each individual component of ESG and how they come together to impact a company and its stakeholders. The modules will also provide insight into how ESG considerations affect investors, consumers, and employees and how it is becoming a central topic at the Board level. The course will provide an in-depth look at the policies, metrics, and data related to ESG, as well as real-world case studies and cutting-edge innovations. It will also cover the challenges and future developments in the field, giving participants a comprehensive understanding of the industry. Participating in this course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to step forward in an ESG career. Description of the teaching methods The course is designed in such a fashion that theory and practice are closely studied. The course will introduce participants to existing knowledge in the fields of ESG, ESG policies, metrics and data. We will explore this dynamic topic through lectures, class-based case exercises and real-world best practices. Students will also work on cases relevant to their own organizations. The course will adopt an international perspective, illustrating cases from around the world. Such an international perspective will only benefit the learning taking place in the classroom where specific methodologies and organizational innovations will be grounded and contextualized by the cases. The classroom dynamics are managed through a dialogue-based approach to teaching. Participants will regularly be tasked to consider trade-offs and a variety of options so as to devise solutions to complex ‘real-life’ ESG dilemmas/opportunities.
