Ferill: Dr. Ólafur Eysteinn Sigurjónsson hefur fengið framgang í stöðu prófessors við tækni- og verkfræðideild Háskólans í Reykjavík. Ólafur hefur verið lektor í heilbrigðisverkfræði við deildina frá 2008, dósent frá 2014 og prófessor frá árinu 2017. Hann hefur og m.a. kennt sameinda- og frumulíffræði, vefjaverkfræði, lífaflfræði og lífefnisfræði. Ólafur hefur verið forstöðumaður rannsókna og nýsköpunar og stofnfrumuvinnslu Blóðabankans frá 2006. Ólafur er stofnandi og annar af eigendum nýsköpunarfyrirtækisins Platome líftækni og gegnir stöðu rannsóknarstjóra við fyrirtækið. Ólafur er klínískur prófessor við læknadeild Háskóla Íslands. Ólafur hefur setið í stjórn  Skandinavísku lífstoðefnissamtakanna frá árinu 2013 og verið forseti þeirra frá árinu 2016. 

 
Kennsla: Ólafur  er umsjónarkennari sameinda og frumulíffræðinámskeiðs (T-106-LIFV)  við Tækni og Verkefræðideild HR og umsjónarkennari Vefjaverkfræði við TVD. Að auki hefur Ólafur kennt í ýmsum framhaldsnema námskeiðum á Íslandi og Noregi.
 
Rannsóknir: Markmið rannsóknarhóps Ólafs eru m.a. rannsóknir á sviði endurmyndunar læknisfræði (e. regeneratvie medicine) með áherlsu á þróun aðferða til ræktunar stofnfruma utan líkama til klínískrar notkunar og hvernig má beita vefjaverkfræði of lífstoðefnum til beinmyndunar frá stofnfrumum. Ólafur stundar einnig rannsóknir á sviði blóðbankafræða með áherslu á að skilja skemmdir sem verða í rauðfrumum og blóðflögum við geymslu þeirra og hver áhrif smithreinsunar eru á slíkar skemmdir.
